Keep The Chompers Clean And Avoid Gum Infection
When you first have teeth extracted and your dentures fit, it is important to keep your dentures clean, because excess bacteria retard the gums healing process and may even cause gum infection to develop. Once you are accustomed to your new dentures, it is important to clean them at least twice a day. You can brush them with a natural toothpaste or use a special denture cleaner.
Other dental professionals prefers plain old soap and water to keep dentures sparkling. Using a hard brush and soap and water works really great.
Aside from that do not forget to brush your gums, too. You can help maintain the tissues that lie underneath the dentures by brushing the gums twice a day with a soft toothbrush. Brushing the gums, palate and tongue not only stimulates the tissues and increases the circulation, it also helps reduce the bacteria and removes plaque.
